Pye-Wacket's Pantry

A well-stocked pantry is the beginning to a well fed, and hence happy, set of Feathers. The following are ALWAYS at hand in the Whitewings kitchen, and I heartily recommend them to you as well.

    White and brown rice

A selection of Noodles and pastas

A selection of hulled natural grains from the health food store

    VERY Hot salsa

    Fat free refried beans

Stewed tomatoes (low or no salt added)

    Chunk Pineapple in natural juice

Various organic baby veggies and fruits (some strained, some 'junior' style)

Various pure fruit and veggie drinks (no sugar or salt added, if possible)

    Curry Powder

    Powdered Cinnamon

    Fresh and Granulated Garlic

    Crushed Red Chile Peppers

    Chinese Hot Mustard

    Cumin

    Ginger, fresh and powdered

    Ground Mustard

    Cloves

    Chile Powder

    Nutmeg

    Italian Seasoning

    Tabasco Sauce

    Molasses

    Natural Honey

    Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

With the above condiments in the cupboard, any purchased bean or rice mix can be turned into an epicurean delight. From hot and spicy to sweet and sour, it's all right there for you to make eating a real joy for your feathered companion.

    Salad Tip:

When making a fresh chopped veggie salad, toss it with a dressing made of vinegar and salsa, add a generous helping of one or two hulled grains, and then turn in the cooked bean, rice or noodle mixture. You will find you have provided a nourishing, interesting, and attractive meal for your bird.
