It is incredibly scary how quickly fire can devastate a life. Friday night all was well, we talked about the future, we played with two tiny chihuahua puppies, we laughed and planned our Saturday. The plans did not include fire raging through the house, killing Mike, four dogs, Josie, Reilly, Blessing, Smudge and 40 birds.
The house, a total loss, means I now live in an old, badly DIY'd fifth wheel trailer, 50 feet from the charred remains of what was so recently a happy love filled home.
I stay, not only because the trailer has no holding tanks and bad tires, but because I love the birds of the aviary. They have become as much my passion as they had been Mike's, and his late wife Donna's.
After years of solitude and pain, I had found my place. I had found where I belonged with Mike, with the birds and with our dogs. I had a family and a happy home.
Until now.
The aviary is in jeopardy. Mike's sons want to sell the property and the birds. I will be without
purpose, without a home. So soon after losing my love and my family.
Please help me save the aviary and continue Mike's legacy of breeding and nurturing birds. I need to purchase property, whether his property or somewhere else.
I am asking all animal lovers to help me save my flock!
